When you add a card to Wallet, your device stores a code instead of the card itself. The real number stays with your bank.

At the counter, that code is signed by your device for this one payment. It is useless to anyone who copies it, including us.

There is no PIN pad to touch and no signature to give. Your face or your passcode does the approving, on your own device.

Which is the short version of: we sell coffee, and that's all we learn about you.

Which cards work on your reader?

Supported Visa and Mastercard only, added to Apple Wallet by a bank that has enabled them for Apple Pay. If your card is not supported with Apple Pay, you can instead tap your physical card at the counter — our reader takes contactless cards too.

Can I use Apple Pay on your ordering website?

Not yet — Apple Pay works in store only, at the counter. You can still order ahead at order.thebackalleycafe.com and tap to pay when you collect.

Is there a minimum spend or a fee?

No to both. A ₱90 single espresso can be tapped, and the price on the menu board is the price on the reader.

My phone is dead. Can I still pay?

There's a charging shelf at the end of the bar. Cash, physical cards and QR wallets all still work here — the tap is the fastest option, not the only one.

Does tapping still earn my stamps?

Yes, automatically. The stamp is added to the account tied to your order and mirrors onto your paper barista card the next time it's scanned. Check the count at order.thebackalleycafe.com.

What about a refund on a mis-made drink?

Tell whoever's on bar — we remake it first. If you'd rather have the money back, it returns to the same card in your Wallet, usually within a few banking days.
